Carrie Schneider, born in 1979, USA, earned her Master of Fine Arts in photography from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2007. On graduating she attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2007) and the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki as a Fulbright Fellow (2007–2008).
In 2009, Schneider held faculty positions at both the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Northwestern University, and was a visiting lecturer at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and the University of Art and Design, Helsinki. Recent awards include the Joan Mitchell Foundation Residency Fellowship, and a project grant from the Finnish Promotion Center for Media Culture
(AVEK). Recent and upcoming exhibitions include the Third Azerbaijan Biennial in Baku; Gallery 44 in Toronto; Galleri KiT in Trondheim, Norway; Istanbul’s santralistanbul; The Finnish Museum of Photography, Helsinki; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. She lives and works in Chicago, USA. Her work is to be found in the several collections such as The Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago, LFC Investment Inc. Corporate Collection,
Chicago and the Centre Canadien d’Architecture, Montreal, Quebec.
