Kwasi Ohene-Ayeh graduated from the College of Art, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana with a BFA Painting degree. He has since been creating works influenced by the inter-related genres of poetry, music, dance, theatre, sculpture, and painting. His installations allow the investigation into concepts such as space, perception, subject-object relationship, the maker and the made.
The works are designed to invite or provoke the viewer to move and [sometimes] feel. He counts on the viewers’ experience of the familiar to inform how they interact with the work. He thinks of his works as the way to track the unending developments around him. He is a sentimental artist who nurtures a sense of nostalgia of his environment. Growing up, his neighbourhoods and places of fond memories consistently undergo “the process of production”. His works are how he is able to document and keep track of his changing surroundings.
