Lassana Diarra Igo is part of the new generation of African cultural operators motivated by a will of iron to the promotion of arts and culture on the continent and in the world.
Igo is the initiator of The Medina Art & Culture, which officially opened in November 2011 at the 9th edition of African photography meetings in Bamako with the exhibition “Witness” of the Goethe Institute. Igo holds the position of Director of the Medina and the main curator. He holds a Master’s degree in arts and cultural engineering from the Academy of Arts and Crafts Multimedia Balla Kouyaté Fasse’ke (Bamako and Paris 8).
Additionally, he produced and directed the documentary « the new Segou », « Mali and Africa », « press crisis 22 » and Transi Foto Tour.
He is founder of Editions Balani ‘s which specializes in children’s books (stories and comics). Initiator of the International Festival of Children’s Literature Bamako ” Kanla kadi ” whose fourth edition is scheduled for March. Igo has also published the game of cultural entrepreneurship ” Ciwara Game “He is a producer of cultural events in Mali, including the Summer Symposium culture of Bamako, and since 2001 he has designed innovative projects for African Photography Encounters in Bamako.
Igo has been a board member of Arterial Network, and member of KYA Network of cultural actors from Mali. He is also the secretary general of the organization Malian book publishers.In his spare time, he produced and hosted radio programs in the sub-regions. Born in 1968, Igo is married and father of two daughters. Lassana reads, writes and speaks Bambara, French and English.
