Born on 25th September 1989, Serah Chibombwe is a vibrant female upcoming artist who has been practicing art since her 4th grade at South-end Primary School in Lusaka; academically this only lasted till her 9th grade at Parklands Secondary school in Chilanga. Nevertheless, she practiced her art in her own spare time till she completed her high school in 2007 at Njase Secondary School in Choma. In the year 2008, she joined the Visual Arts Council (VAC) in Kitwe but only for a short while. In 2009, she was a nominee of Mukuba Awards. In 2010; she worked for a sign writing company called Brushworks for two months. In 2011 she pursued a two year course at the Hotel and Tourism Training Institute Trust graduating with an advanced certificate In Food Production. She officially joined the creative industry when she became a member of the Visual Arts Council of Zambia in Lusaka in the year 2014. Having no specific mentor, she draws inspiration from issues based on real life situations that surround her or that she has been through and also from different artists that she mingles with on a daily basis through the VAC, Insakartist Trust and the AAWW which are all located in the Lusaka Show Grounds including the Roots of Expressions Studio (ROXS) in Libala South, Lusaka. During her three years of being on the art scene, She has taken part in a number of group exhibitions, residence programs and workshops within Zambia including the 2015 Insakartist International Workshop and the Barclays Absa La telier 2015 / 2016 competition where one of her works were selected to the first round. She is currently serving as a committee member of the VAC.
