Taiye Idahor grew up in Lagos Nigeria. She studied Fine Art at the prestigious Yaba College of Technology in Lagos, Nigeria where she graduated in 2007 with a Higher National Diploma (HND) after specialising in sculpture in her final years at the college.
Through the past few years Taiye Idahor has worked significantly within the concept of identity and feminism quite unconsciously using mostly newspaper and weaves. Today she continues to explore and focus on the woman’s identity, tangled through the issues of trade, the environment and globalisation while examining how these factors build the woman’s identity in today’s Africa but in particular Lagos. This city where she has lived all her life also acts as a major source of inspiration to her especially through the found objects and materials she uses to create her work.
