Teju Cole is a writer and photographer born in the US and raised in Nigeria. He is the author of Every Day Is for the Thief, which was shortlisted for the PEN/Open Book Award, and Open City, which won the PEN/Hemingway Award and the Internationaler Literaturpreis, and was shortlisted for the National Book Critics Circle Award. He taught Art History, Literature, and Writing at Bard College, and is the Photography Critic of the New York Times Magazine, where his column was a finalist for a 2016 National Magazine Award. He was awarded the 2015 Windham Campbell Prize from Yale University. Punto d’Ombra, a solo exhibition of his photographs, opened at the Forma Meravigli in Milan in the summer of 2016.
